1st of all, what we want to know what is a festival? And why we are giving much more preference in our life."Festival"the name we heard means unknown happiness arrived in our hearts from childhood onwards. It keeps us relationship attachment to everyone in family & society. And the festival means not all want to celebrate the same. It may vary religion-religion and, different culture also. They are different types of festivals like we celebrate Traditionally and Internationally also. It depends on the culture and religions. And let's go detail view of our topic"Types of festivals and Importance".



Generally, Traditional Festival means like religious, cultures and based upon there caste it depends. For example, Christianity - is a religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus. At Churches they do prayers. Festival they celebrate Christmas. Bible is the holy text of Christians. Hinduism-actually believes in only one god but in many forms addressed names like Shiva, Vishnu, Ganapathi, SriRama, Lakshmi Devi, Durga Devi, and no. of creations. Buddhism and Sikhism were both derived from Hinduism only. Hinduism has no single inventor, no single scripture and no commonly agreed set of teachings. And they celebrate countless festivals like Dussehra, Deepavali, Sankranthi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Sri Rama Navami, and soon. They do pooja in the temple. Islam-Known as Muslims. They worship only one God who in Arabic called Allah. At Mosques area they worship. The Quran is the holy text of Islam. Those are the examples for Traditional festival(as well as a religious festival). At these festivals, we give importance to traditional dresses, ethnic wear & know about moral values, cultures and all. This time is the most precious and joyful spending with family and friends. During festival times we wish everyone and interact with people we know. And interested to spend time like shopping, decorating, and girls show much interest in keeping Mehandi, nail arts, making food items etc.
We generally know this kind of festivals but according to there cultures, they celebrate this kind of traditional festivals.

Taj Mahotsav



One of the major festivals in India is" Taj Mahotsav "which held every year in Agra. It is the most awaited festival, which is organized every year at Shilpgram near the eastern gate of “Taj Mahal”. This year Taj Mahotsav will begin on Monday-18th February and ends on Wednesday-27th February. Celebrated along 10 days.

History of Taj Mahotsav:
Every year Taj Mahotsav is being celebrated since 1992. The celebration of this Taj

Mehndi Ceremony



The art of applying henna in hands and feet with different styles is known as Mehndi. And it is a very old traditional culture and ancient art form of the Asian subcontinent. Mehndi ceremony takes an important part in the Indian big fat wedding. And not only the wedding in every function it plays an important role from a birthday party, half saree ceremony and soon it plays a vital role.




In India, weddings are celebrated as 3 days or 5 days big fat ceremony, At that time one-day mehndi ceremony is more auspicious with family and friends. It is usually held before pre-wedding.
The mehndi color also shows the bond of love and understanding between the bride and groom.
Gorintaku is also called as natural henna. Which directly pick up from the plant and added some remedies to it and to get good color and blended well. And after blended, it keeps on palm with different shapes.




The herb of it is very much advantageous for the growth of nails and health. The cooling effect present in the herbs helps us in relieving stress, headaches, and fever. Hence, Mehandi is applied to get rid of the bride and the groom of all the wedding stress. It even safeguards the couple doesn't effect viral diseases before the wedding.

One of the famous cultural events that dominate the sand of Rajasthan in the month of February - The popular Jaisalmer Desert Festival. It reflects the culture and heritage of the Rajasthani people. Being an annual event, fest garners the attention of many itchy feet.
The duration of the festival is three days and it comes to an end on Poornima, the full moon day in February. The main theme of the Jaisalmer Desert Festival is to display the rich and colorful culture of the state. Dressed in vibrant and colorful attire, the local people of Rajasthan dance to the tunes lingering ballads of heroism, romance, and tragedy of the local heroes.
The festival takes place near the famous sand dunes of Thar desert.

History of Jaisalmer:

Jaisalmer was discovered by the Rajput ruler Raja Rawal Jaisal Singh in the 12th century. The city was a mid-spot for several trade routes including ancient Silk road in medieval times. Traders from Central Asia, Egypt, Arab and Persia used to come here. It became home to several trade fairs and festivals.
There are a number of competitions been held, such as the famous turban tying or the Desert that adds to the excitement of the festival. In this desert festival, the performers sway to the tunes and dance on rich cultural songs and tunes. The Jaisalmer Desert Festival is sponsored by the Rajasthan State Tourism Corporation and one of the most visited festivals of Jaisalmer City. Attractions of the fest are the snake charmers, puppeteers, acrobats, and folk performers. And the interesting part in Jaisalmer desert festival is camel race, they decorate camel in this festival.

Traditional Wear


In India, there a different type and no.of traditions in clothing it is based upon the people and their native cultures. According to their occasions like festivals and family functions, they choose traditional wear from children to big aged people. In India totally  29 states are there and every state has their Unique wear of clothing. Not only state according to their religion also they wear traditional clothes. And let’s see some states how they had own kind of styling and clothing in tradition.

 Assam
Assam is very rich in culture and traditions. And they celebrate festivals more. And it is a fusion of Indo Burmese, Mongolian and Aryan origin.
The Assamese doll up very simple dresses, and mostly hand loomed.
The Traditional wear of women is motif-rich Mekhela Chador or Riha- Mekhela.
The traditional wear for men is 'Suria' or 'dhoti', and over it, they drape a chadar known as 'Selena'.

AndhraPradesh

The AP(AndhraPradesh) is known for its rich heritage and culture. And it also famous for a tourist place.
The traditional wear of AP is not much different from other southern states of the country.

Men
In AndhraPradesh men wear generally dhoti and kurta.

Dhoti
A dhoti is a large piece of cloth that is wrapped around the waist and is tucked from between the legs. The length of the dhoti worn is according to one's preference means based upon their heights. The dhoti can be either mark up to knee length or ankle length. And they will celebrate the Dhoti function for teenagers.

Kurta
Kurta is the top worn by the men. They are usually made up of cotton. The length of the sleeve is full length or half.

Shirt
Even though Kurta is traditional to wear, men have also started wearing shirts and T-shirts instead of Kurta.

Lungi
Men in Andhra Pradesh also were Lungis. Lungis are a piece of silk or cotton cloth simply wrapped around the waist. Muslim men wear pajamas instead of dhoti and kurta with a Fez Cap.

Women

Saree
The saree is a long length of cloth (usually 5½ meters or 6 yards long) that is wrapped around a woman's lower body, And wear blouses to cover their upper body.
And there a different type of sarees are famous like Ikkat,kanchipuram silk,darmavaram pattu,mangalgiri cotton, kalamkari and soon.
                                                   




Langa Voni
Langa Voni is a two-piece or a half saree worn by girls in south India. It consists of a  piece of skirt and blouse and a dupatta. Girls wear Langa Voni before they get married.

The Harbin Ice And Snow Festival is one of the world's biggest snow sculputure festival.The harbin ice and snow festival has been held since 1963.
1st it is the traditional festival near harbin located people,Later on it becomes an International festival.
Traditionally Harbin Ice and Snow Festival start arround Dec(24-25)and last to ends February.
But after becoming International festival the official date declared to this ceremony January 5th.And usually held same date on each year.
Even sun sets in harbin looks cold.Nearly 10,000 people works for this festival to cut and build the blocks of ice and sculptures.
  

          







The lighting effects on the ice and snow sculptures are used by the computer controlled Led's and regular lighting to animate beautiful and stunning displays of color and designs.
If you want to experience the local festival atmosphere,then attend during the spring festival which going to be held on February(5th to 10th).
And the intresting and crazy thing that they do is "Eating Ice Cream".It is tradition in Harbin.
Though it is frezzing ,It is one of the best experience.The temperature in Harbin will be upto -20°C but people lined up arround the streets in order to buy and eat icecreams at popular shops.
